the covenant of the 13 devils

A grimoire of devilry
~a collaboration between ulysses Black & A.I. ~

36pp Full colour, a5 ‘zine’ booklet. Strictly limited to 50 numbered copies.

The texts contains all manner of clues to strange and unknown rituals, complete with technical details of how the magician or priest engages with, binds and is bound by the devils.

I'm interested in the role AI will have on spiritual, non-human engagements; on its proximity yet alien nature - the material is at once familiar yet eerily other. There is a paper in the works on whether robots can do rituals, and this small document in some way obliges me to update my thoughts, what of AI systems themselves? Can they create rituals with the capacity for meaning making?

Is it not gibberish? Well, given that the subject matter is considered made-up by some people, and certainly relates to entities that are considered outside the scope of human consciousness, then it seems strangely fitting that the words, though in a human language and following grammatical structures, should still be written by a non-human intelligence.

It should be noted there are not currently any copyright laws that cover ai produced images, they are all, effectively, everyone’s regardless of who ‘created’ them. Enjoy!

Rogues Gallery of the 13 Devils + 1 that was too indistinct. All images generated via midjourney.com

Below are the original devil images generated by Cardinal Midjourney, with an additional devil that did’nt make the cut because the image was too low resolution. The only change I have made to the images in the book is to brighten them slightly (to compensate for the difference between an illuminated monitor a printed paper) (and higher resolution images are used).

Here are the ceramics that were recovered from the ruins of Taloan. They are all effigies of the devil Nemoras, whose use is alluded to in the text accompanying his image. We’re hoping to uncover some of these amazing artifacts, though the next dig is not scheduled for another year.
